GMS Grebenauer Metallbau Schreiner GmbH, part of the Schreiner Group with more than 250 employees, is an efficient family business that has been involved in the working and processing of metals and metal constructions for generations. The services range from development and technical planning to the construction and installation of high-quality facades, windows and doors for modern building architecture.
The special challenge in façade construction is the precise identification of similar individual parts. Façade projects often contain several thousand individual parts, which often only differ from each other in details.
The range of services is expanded by sheet metal and profile processing with its own processing centre and the area of construction elements. In conjunction with its sister company Pulverbeschichtung Schreiner GmbH, the GMS Group forms an efficient team and realises the complete finishing of aluminium including profile composite and powder coating.
The individual production steps and final assembly, however, absolutely require exact digital identification, as each part requires its own CNC programmes at each production station. GMS uses WiCAM’s PN4000 for nesting, digital management, data management and labelling.
Most components are created parametrically and, in the case of complexity, are transferred individually as a CAD file. Each component receives its own number, which is automatically affixed as a QR code together with another code for the subsequent work steps on the Trumpf CNC punching machine. At the same time, the NC programmes for the stud welding machine are created. These are automatically loaded into the control system by means of a barcode reader. Further work steps such as edging are also selected via scanner.

Mr. Schreiner, technical manager at GMS: “WiCAM is the central basis of our production because of the interfaces alone. The labelling of the QR codes, the automatic simultaneous programming of several machines and the lightning-fast parts search give us an overview from raw material to final assembly – and secure our logistical and economic competitive advantages.”
