Biohort GmbH, based in Neufelden (Upper Austria), is one of Europe’s market leaders for high-quality metal garden sheds, storage boxes and raised beds. To optimise its manufacturing processes, the company has been relying on state-of-the-art machines and our PN4000 programming system for many years.
After several years without any fundamental software updates, Biohort decided to completely update the PN4000 programming system as part of a comprehensive IT modernisation programme. This was triggered by the renewal of the entire server structure – a technical milestone that made a software update unavoidable.
WiCAM GmbH carried out the update on site in Neufelden and brought the system up to the latest technological standard. This has enabled Biohort to create the conditions for greater operational stability, simplified connection of future extensions and a noticeable increase in efficiency in production.
The update also opens up new digital potential for Biohort. Among other things, the new version enables easier integration of modular extensions such as the 3D module or the power nesting function – tools that will enable even more precise, faster and more resource-efficient production in the future.
In the manufacturing process, Biohort uses three identical Pirma Power SGe 6 machines and two identical Trumpf TruPunch 5000 S12 machines with SheetMaster, among other things. Both machine types are controlled by WiCAM’s PN4000 software – a programming system that integrates all sheet metal processing machines regardless of manufacturer and makes them centrally controllable.
One technical advantage of the update can be seen in swivelling, for example. The circular sorting of tools during programming minimises material distortion, as stresses are controlled and released from the inside out. This leads to greater dimensional accuracy and reduced scrap in production – a clear added value in terms of Biohort’s quality standards.
